Tim got reinstated

My friend Tim was finally reinstated to E-6, Petty Officer First Class retired, US NAVY. I am extremely happy for him and proud of myself as I played a direct role in his reinstatement. I encouraged him to persue reinstatement, and he did. I offered my assistance and he accepted it. I had him write a letter explaining what happened and all of the events surrounding what happened, and then I rewrote and tweaked his letter. He submitted the letter and was rejected twice. I encouraged him to stick with it and he did. I encouraged him to involve his congressman, as I have had great results from my congressman, and he did, and now, after 3 long years of fighting with the Navy and the government, he was reinstated to E-6, Petty Officer First Class. He's been retired for 2 years now, possibly closer to 3 years, no, just about 2 years. Anyway, the best part of his reinstatement was that Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) must now take corrective actions. That means that they will have to calculate how much he should have been paid while he was still active (including sea pay, BAH, BAS and any other allowances he should have been receiving on the ship) and then the same applies to his retired pay. My buddy is reinstated and looking at a huge, I mean substantial, payment from the government. Now that he's been reinstated to 1st Class, I think he should fight for E-7 since they robbed him of even having a chance, but he thinks that would be pushing it, so I will respect that of him. I am truly, very happy for my friend.
